Glacifier (previously called AiBrainly; "the app", "we", "us") is an AI-assisted journaling and self-reflection app. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Glacifier you agree to this policy.
Glacifier is published by TechManifester (proprietor: K P Ranjith), Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600125, India. For any privacy question or request, contact: info@techmanifester.com.
The app does not collect your location or contacts and does not sell your data. It uses your camera only if you choose to take a photo for an entry, and your microphone only if you choose to dictate or record a voice entry (see below).
If you tap the microphone button in the journal writer to dictate, Glacifier asks for microphone permission and uses your device's built-in speech recognition to turn your speech into text. Glacifier does not record, store or upload your audio; it only receives the resulting text, which is treated like anything else you type. Depending on your device settings, your phone's speech service (for example Google's) may process the audio to produce that text, under that provider's own privacy policy. Voice typing is optional and you can revoke the microphone permission at any time in your device settings.
Offline voice typing (optional). In Settings you can download a language pack (English, Hindi or Tamil) so dictation works without internet. The model files are downloaded once from public hosts (huggingface.co and github.com), and no personal data is sent with the download. When you dictate with a downloaded pack, your audio is processed on your phone, is not stored and is not uploaded; only the resulting text is used.
You can add up to six photos to an entry, from your gallery or by taking one. Each photo is resized on your phone and stripped of location and camera details (EXIF), then kept in Glacifier's private storage on your device. Photos are not uploaded to our servers, are never sent to any AI, and are removed when you delete the entry for good or delete your account. Photos are included in the backup file you export, and may be included in your phone's own backup (for example Google backup) if you have that turned on.
You can record a voice entry. The recording is saved on your device in Glacifier's private storage and is not uploaded to our servers or to any AI. You may add a transcript; it is only used for AI insights and search if you switch on "Use transcript for AI insight and search" for that entry, otherwise the entry stays private from AI. Recordings are removed when you delete the entry for good or delete your account. They are included in the backup file you export, and may be included in your phone's own backup if you have that turned on. Please note that a recording that exists only on your phone is lost if you lose the phone and have no backup.
You can optionally connect an AI assistant such as Claude so that it can add entries to your Glacifier journal when you ask it to. To connect, you sign in to your Glacifier account and approve the connection. The assistant receives a limited access token that lets it add new journal entries only. It cannot read, search, edit or delete your existing entries, insights or memory. Entries added this way are limited to 20 per 24 hours and 4,000 characters each, and are stored in your account like any other entry (labelled with the assistant that added it). The text you ask an assistant to save passes through that assistant's provider (for example Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT) under their own privacy policy before it reaches Glacifier; those providers are not our service providers for this feature. You can disconnect any assistant at any time in Settings → Connect AI tools, which immediately revokes its access. Deleting your account deletes all connections and tokens.
To generate insights, coaching responses, and your memory profile, your relevant content is sent securely to our backend (Google Firebase Cloud Functions) and then to third-party AI providers — OpenAI and Anthropic — solely to generate a response for you. These providers process the content on our behalf as service providers. We do not use your content to train third-party models, and under their API terms OpenAI and Anthropic do not use data sent through their APIs to train their models by default. These providers may keep API requests for a limited period (currently up to 30 days) for abuse monitoring and safety, then delete them. We have not signed zero-data-retention agreements with them. Your content is not anonymised before it is sent, because the AI needs your actual words to write a useful reply.
Ask my journal (Premium) lets you ask questions about your past entries. If you turn it on, your entries are sent to OpenAI to create a searchable copy of each entry (an "embedding"), which is stored in your account, and the entries that best match your question are sent to OpenAI with the question to write the answer. Monthly letter (Premium) sends your entries from the previous month to OpenAI once a month to write a private letter, which is saved in your account. Neither feature sends anything until you allow it, separately for each feature, in a prompt inside the app. You can turn either off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Data, which stops the processing and deletes the stored searchable copies (Ask my journal) or your saved letters (Monthly letter). They are also deleted when you delete your account. We keep a record of your choice (which feature, the version of this explanation and the time).
Early access. While Glacifier is in early access, every user gets Premium features free of charge. This does not change how your data is handled: the features that read your journal still send nothing until you turn them on.
If you choose Backup to Google Drive in Settings → Privacy & Data, the app encrypts a copy of your entries, decisions, photos and voice recordings on your phone (very large media may be left out; the app tells you) with a passphrase only you know and saves the encrypted file in the hidden app-data area of your own Google Drive. We ask Google only for permission to use that app-data folder (not to see your other files). Google stores the file but cannot read it, and neither can we. Weekly automatic backup is optional and off until you turn it on. You can delete the backup from your Google account, and restoring on a new phone needs your passphrase. We cannot recover a lost passphrase.
Your account and content are stored in Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), encrypted in transit and at rest. Other users cannot read your entries: our database rules allow only your signed-in account to read them.
Glacifier is not end-to-end encrypted. Your entries are stored in a form our servers can read, because the AI features need to read your text to write replies. This means the person who runs Glacifier could technically open your data in the database. We do not do that, and we limit and record access as described next. If you are not comfortable with that, please do not write anything in the app that you would not want an AI service to process.
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the app: Google Firebase (hosting, auth, database, analytics, crash reporting), Google Play (subscription billing) and the AI providers named above (content processing). We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.
Your content is retained while your account is active. You can delete individual entries in the app (a "Recently deleted" area lets you restore or permanently remove them). You can delete your whole account and everything associated with it (entries, insights, chats, memory, saved letters, searchable copies, and connected AI-tool access) in the app under Settings → Privacy & Data. If you cannot use the app, email info@techmanifester.com and we will delete it for you. After deletion, encrypted database backups can keep a copy for up to 30 days before they are erased, and we do not restore or read them in that time except to recover from a system failure. Records that contain no journal content, such as anonymous crash reports and usage counts, may be kept.
You can see and edit your entries in the app, export them from Settings → Privacy & Data, and delete entries or your whole account at any time. You can also email info@techmanifester.com to ask for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected, or to have it erased. We will reply as soon as we can and within 30 days. If you have a complaint about how we handle your data, write to the same address.
Glacifier is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Glacifier is in beta. It is still being tested and developed, so it can contain bugs, and the AI-generated insights, replies and summaries it shows can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Please double-check anything important. Glacifier is not a medical, legal or mental-health service.
If something you write shows that you plan to harm someone else, the app does not ask the AI for help with it. It shows emergency and helpline information instead (in India: 112 and Tele-MANAS 14416). We keep only a technical record that this safeguard ran, never the text you wrote.
Glacifier is a self-reflection tool, not a medical device or a substitute for professional mental-health care. If you are in crisis or may be in danger, contact your local emergency number or a crisis helpline (in India, call 112 or Tele-MANAS 14416; in the US, call or text 988; find international lines at findahelpline.com).
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
